 Abbotsford Collegiate is a school with a 51 year history of excellence in education, sports, extra-curricular activities, and Panther spirit!
$45 million renovation / rebuild has been approved and we will be moving into a great new school in 2012.
The building will be constructed to Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold standards, which would make it one of the first schools in the province to attain that level of sustainable and green design, according to district officials.
The structure will have features that promote water efficiency, energy conservation, and employ recycled, reused or renewable materials.
We have a population of approximately 1200 students and 65 teaching staff. In addition to the regular BC Provincial curriculum, Abbotsford Collegiate is proud to offer the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (DP), CTC (Career Technical Center) program, ISP (Integrated Studies Program), Sport and Human Performance program, and in the fall of 2010, the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (MYP).
Our academic subjects and school programs are supported by a wide variety of electives. Our Visual and Performing Arts Department offers Visual Arts, Drama, Jazz and Concert Choir, Band, Guitar, and Drumline courses. The very popular and successful Dinner Theatre in February and the Speakers' Series are but two of the many extras that are provided. Our Business Education courses, Industrial Arts and Technology Courses also offer excellent practical and creative challenges.
As there are a wide variety of extra-curricular activities offered at Abbotsford Collegiate, students are able to participate in numerous sports, the Snowball Tournament, Key Club, Student Leadership, HIB Leadership, Grad Committee, Jetsetters, Scholarship Club, and Theatre. |
